June 10th, 3am Micronesia time

Took off from Guam at about 11pm on the 9th, landed in Yap, Federated States of Micronesia, around 1am.  Went through the small but chaotic open-air Yap customs and baggage claim, and were driven to our modest but comfy hotel (the ESA) in a van with welcome air-conditioning.  The drive was dark and the vegetation thick around us.  Super curious about our surroundings but my eyes are heavy and tired by now.  I can never really sleep on planes.  We collect ourselves in the hotel lobby (all 14 of us: we six interns, six on the science team, one videographer, and two capable teens).  Up to room 201 with Michelle and Sara, and sleep at last.
